BlackBerry Have Started Testing BBM For Android Again

BlackBerry have started testing a new version of the BBM app for Android. This we noticed in the emails sent to beta testers. 




This version of BBM for Android is more stable, the UI have been redesigned with a new welcome screen explaining the app, notifications is now present, the persistent notification running in the status bar can now optionally be disabled and finally, the UI as a whole has received some more polish.


No potential released date have been communicated to the beta testers or to anyone yet. However, it shows that BlackBerry is still true to its words that it will bring BBM to Android device and iPhone users.

As patience runs dry and people begin to lose interest, BlackBerry should just hurry up.

Whatsapp Makes Fun At BlackBerry

Whatsapp released and update to their Whatsapp Messenger for Android platform yesterday, stressing on the good things you get to gain from using Whatsapp Messenger. One of the good things according to Whatsapp is that you don't need to remember PIN or contact name. This is some sort of taking a spin on BlackBerry Messenger aka (BBM).


You would recall that BlackBerry was supposed to release BBM for Android and iPhone last week (21st of September) but failed. I for one, am getting really impatient and the same goes for a lot of folks. Some have already lost interest in the BBM app for Android and iPhone.

Sequel to this failed BBM release for Android and iPhone, Whatsapp have beefed up their app, making it more fluid and user friendly with successive updates across all platforms.

Of course, Whatsapp is aware of the huge craving consumers have for BlackBerry Messenger and Whatsapp is doing everything in their power to make sure that its customers stay with them while gaining new customers.

BBM for Windows 7 Release Announced

Its very interesting to see things unfold in the tech industry. On of those interesting things is the announcement of BBM for Desktop which was announced at the BlackBerry Jam Asia yesterday.


BBM for desktop computers which had the same touch and feel with the BBM for smartphones was shown off by Alec Saunders and Chris Smith to attendees. This version according to Alec Saunders will use both USB and WiFi for connectivity.

Word on the development of BBM for Mac was also released, saying that development is on going for mac computers but was their no mention of any release date for it.

7 Days Countdown To BBM on Android and iPhone

We are counting down to the release of BBM for Android and iPhone.



You would recall that BlackBerry Messenger popularly known as BBM has already being seen at events and have been said that it will be reaching the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for download on the 21st of September.



Officially, BBM for Android and iPhone is due to be released end of Summer and we have strong reason to believe that 21st September could be it.

Therefore,  we are counting down to the release of BBM for Android and iPhone.

BBM For Android & iPhone Not Supported For These Devices

By now, a good number of people know that BlackBerry is releasing the revered BlackBerry Messenger to other platforms before September. This was further reassured by Thorsten Heins at the BBLive conference this morning.


According to Thorsten Heins, BBM would be free of charge to download and use. However, only the messaging and group chat would be rolled put first, followed by BBM Voice, Screen Sharing, Video Capabilities and BBM channels later in the year.

While a lot of folks are very much excited about this soon to be released BBM for Android and iOS, it is important to note that it won't support some devices.

Below are the devices it won't support

1. Any Android device running Android version lower than Ice Cream Sandwich. That is, anything less than Android 4.0 won't be supported.

2. Any iOS device running less than iOS 6.0 won't be supported. That is any iPhone lower than iPhone 3GS won't be supported, iPhone 4 still running iOS 5.1.1 won't be supported. Same goes for the iPads running less than iOS 6.

3. Windows Phone 8 devices are not supported at all.

So what does this mean?
It means that if you are very excited about this move and want to use BBM on your Android or Apple device, you should also make sure that your mobile device meet the requirements to download and use the soon to be released BBM for Android and iOS.

BBM For Android Real Images Released

The fuss about Blackberry Messenger (BBM) coming to Android and iPhone is a very interesting one. As we stated in one of our posts, BBM for Android and iOS is expected to be released before September ending.

Already, real image of BBM for Android only have surfaced, which we saw at BGR website, and this we present to you below.



Although we believe that BBM for other platforms should have been available long before now, yet, better late than ever.

The real question is, will BBM for Android and iOS kill the strong hold that Whatsapp already have on these platforms? If you think so, drop your comments. Wish Granted: BBM for Android and iPhone

Blackberry Messenger popularly known as BBM is now making its way to Android and iPhones as earlier announced by the Canadian company CEO Heins.

According to the CEO, BBM would be available before the end of summer which translate to before the end of September 2013.

This stance was further strengthened by the tweet that was seen on Twitter few hours back as shown in the image below.


This strongly suggest that BBM for Android and iPhone may be ready for release sooner than September.

A lot of folks can't wait for this to drop. In fact there have been several images on peoples wall showing what the Blackberry Messenger for iPhone and Android would look like. Examples are shown below.


Of course these images are just to show how expectant people are but may not be the real deal.

As always, we are waiting eagerly for when this would officially hit the App Store of both Android and Apple.

Fake BBM Application in the Google Play Store

Just today, we have noticed a fake Blackberry Messenger in the Google Play Store that have been submitted and already getting downloads and points.




Already, 1,870 people have downloaded this application that could be either a malware or virus.

As stated, this application wasn't developed by Blackberry (formerly Research In Motion) company but made by some folks who are either trying to gain attention of Blackberry company or wanting to get inside the devices of Android users. 

Please be warned not to download this app. Blackberry haven't officially released the real Blackberry messenger and when it does we shall be very well pleased to let you know.

Stay tuned to this blog for information on when the genuine Blackberry messenger will become available for both Android and iOS devices.

Blackberry BBM Coming to iPhone and Android

Apple approved BBM for iPhones. This was the news we picked up recently with even images. However, we known that come summer, BBM should be available for download on Android devices and iPhone. Date is given below for download release date.

Blackberry CEO Hein announced that the Blackberry Messenger (BBM) app which is currently exclusive to Blackberry devices will be made available to iPhones and Android devices.

According to the CEO, "it is time for BBM to be made available to other competing smartphones".

Whatsapp, which is fast gaining a lot of attention due to its cross platform nature is almost making BBM less important, hence, we believe that its a good idea to offer BBM to other OS platforms and smartphones.
However, it could end up to be not so good a idea because some people are still tied to Blackberry devices because of BBM.

Time only is the judge of all things as it will reveal whether this is a good idea or bad idea by the Blackberry company
BBM will be free for Android devices running ICS (4.0.4) above and Apple devices running iOS 6.0 and above but may not be free for Windows Phone 8 devices.

Apple have approved BBM for iPhones and would be released in June for download .

Once its approved by Google Play store it will be available for download.

BlackBerry 10 beta release gets Siri-like voice command feature

Research In Motion (RIM) recently released an update to their developer alpha devices for BlackBerry 10 OS. One of the biggest features in the new build of BlackBerry 10 was the voice command feature with an operator whose voice sounds very similar to Apple’s Siri.

The new voice command feature is accessed by pressing the voice command button set between the two volume buttons in the developer alpha devices. It is still an early beta build so the voice command has limited functionality, but N4BB demonstrates that it has a universal search function, apart from calling and sending text messages. It may not yet be ready for prime time use, but it sounds very similar to Siri from Apple’s iPhone.

The voice command technology is speculated to be powered by Nuance, the same company that Apple acquired Siri from.


According to earlier reports, RIM had confirmed that BlackBerry 10 will include a video chat feature through RIM's popular BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) service. This didn’t come as a surprise, considering that the BlackBerry PlayBook also has a Video Chat feature and the Dev Alpha devices being handed out to developers had front facing cameras. This was the first time RIM confirmed that there would be Video Chat available on BBM.

The upcoming BlackBerry 10 is highly anticipated. RIM recently released its developer tools for BlackBerry 10. Building a strong library of applications for the new BlackBerry platform is crucial to its success as its existing library of apps is far smaller than rival offerings from Apple and Google. Many of its available apps are incompatible with the upcoming BlackBerry 10. RIM is struggling to reverse years of slowing sales, delayed and disappointing product launches, and an embarrassing global outage of its prized network.

The updates to the developer tools help apps interact with each other, and make use of the BlackBerry network to push notifications to devices. RIM also opened App World in May to enable developers using a test device to share their work among themselves.

Last month, RIM reported an operating loss deeper than expected. The company said that it was reducing almost 10 percent of its workforce as it had delayed the BlackBerry 10 launch to the first quarter of 2013. The first devices to run BlackBerry 10 were originally expected to release early this year.

BlackBerry Messenger for iOS and Android denied

BlackBerry maker Research in Motion has denied a rumoured shift to rival smartphone platforms for its flagship BlackBerry Messenger service.

Following slowing sales of its handsets - originally designed for business users, but typically now the reserve of chat-hungry teenagers - in the face of the success of Google's Android and Apple's iOS platforms, rumours pointed to work to port the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) instant-messaging service to the rival platforms.
                      
With BBM proving the jewel in Research in Motion's increasingly tarnished crown, it was a risky strategy: moving what is increasingly proving the single unique feature of BlackBerry handsets onto rival devices could severely cut into already slow handset sales, but would have the potential of giving RIM a significantly larger target market for a subscription-based messaging service.
It's a risk too far for RIM's board, however: the Wall Street Journal, chief executive Thorsten Heins has declared that RIM should be concentrating on its first-party offerings and not seeking licensing agreements for its technologies with third parties.
Quoting an anonymous source 'familiar with the matter', the WSJ claims that Heins would refuse to even contemplate the plan - despite his forerunners' Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie actively developing the idea. "It was not up for discussion", the source claimed.
Instead, RIM is to concentrate on its upcoming BlackBerry 10 software, a revamp of its increasingly outdated operating system which has seen the BlackBerry brand lose market share to the app-driven Android and iOS platforms.
