Preface
One day my little girl, Nadjwa dzikrina binti Yusuf Zulkarnain, found a cocoon depends on citrus tree branch in front of our house. She soon saved the cocoon in her lovely wooden box. The following day she opened the box to see her cocoon and was surprised when she saw a small hole appeared in that cocoon.
“Abdillah … Abdillah! Came here, Abdil!”
Najwa immediately stood up and went to find her young brother, Abdillah Tanjung bin Yusuf Zulkarnain. She shout loudly to call him. And then she met my youngest child.
They both soon sat for watching and waiting for further occurances. Several hours have passed, She saw a butterfly struggling to force itself out through the small hole. Until a moment the movement stop making progress. The Butterfly had been tried to came out. And then could not go out much further.
Nadjwa could not wait so she decided to help the butterfly. She cut with scissor the rest of the confinement of the cocoon so that the butterfly can come out easily. But it was strange, not as a usual butterfly, the butterfly's body was puffy, the both wings wrinkled smaller. She was disappointed and can only hope that wings will expand and widen until able to support its body, but it never happened. In fact, the butterfly was flawed due to premature lived the rest of its life only by crawling. The Butterfly’s body kept bloated and it could never fly.
Essence of teaching
What is not understandable by my girl, Nadjwa, from the kindness and good intentions to help the butterfly to get out of its cocoon is that the cocoon inhibits the release of butterflies and the struggle it takes a butterfly to come out through a small hole is the way of God - ALLAH Subhaana wa ta’ala - to forcing a fluid from butterfly's body to flow into its wings so that he is ready to fly so obtained freedom from the cocoon.
Wisdom
The struggle is needed in life. If Allah SWT. let life without obstacles, it would cripple us. We may not be as strong as we should be able. We will never be able to fly if we are into the butterfly.

Build Me a Son - Written by Jenderal Douglas A. MacArthur
Build me a son, O Lord,
Who will be strong enough to.know when he is weak,
And brave enough to face him self when he is afraid;
One who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat,
And humble and gentle in victory.
Build me a son whose wishbone will not be.
Where his backbone should be;
A son who will know Thee - and that
to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge.
Lead him, I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort,
but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge.
Here, let him learn to stand up in the storm;
Here, let him team compassion for those who fall.
Build me a son whose heart will be clear, whose goals will be high;
A son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men;
One who will learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep;
One who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past.
And after all these things are his,
add, I pray, enough of a sense of humor.
So that he may always be serious,
yet never take himself too seriously.
Give him humility, so that he may always remember
the simplicity of true greatness,
the open mind of true wisdom,
the meekness of true strength.
Then I, his father, will dare to whisper,
"I have not lived in vain."
